FAQ
Q. What is PDF metadata?
Metadata refers to properties embedded in the PDF file such as Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, and Creator application. They help search engines and document indexing software identify details about the file.
Q. Which metadata fields can I edit?
You can modify major document property tags including Document Title, Author, Subject, Keywords (tags), and Creator software.
Q. Can I completely wipe out or delete embedded metadata?
Yes. Leaving the input fields empty and processing the file will completely strip those property fields from the PDF dictionary. This is ideal for personal information cleaning.
Q. Will modifying metadata affect the page content or layouts?
No. Metadata is stored in a separate document info dictionary block. The page drawings, images, and text contents will remain completely untouched.
Q. Is there any leak risk for my uploaded files?
None. All metadata parsing and updating processes happen in local JavaScript. Your document files are never sent over the network to our servers.
Q. Can I edit properties on a password-secured PDF?
No. Secured files cannot be parsed directly. Please use our Unlock tool to strip security first, then upload.
Q. Will Japanese or multi-language inputs get corrupted?
No. We utilize UTF-8 strings. Text inputs in Japanese or other Unicode scripts will be recorded correctly without encoding errors.
Q. Is it completely free to use without limits?
Yes, it is entirely free. There are no registrations, memberships, or trial limits.
Q. Can I edit metadata on smartphones or tablets?
Yes. Our platform is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers including iOS Safari and Chrome for Android.
Q. Will my original file on my local device be overwritten?
No. The uploaded file is read-only. The platform synthesizes a new PDF in local memory and downloads it, preserving your original document.
